| MINSK, 28 July (BelTA) – The rate of utilization of funds of the conservation foundations was very low in the first half of 2010, First Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Vitaly Kulik said at a session of the ministry.
“No program has been implemented in full. The average percentage of the utilization is 40-60%, and this is despite the fact that we projected that only 10-20% of the annual funding would be disbursed in the first half,” Vitaly Kulik said. |

| MINSK, 27 July (BelTA) – Belarus plans to switch into trade surplus by 2013, Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky said at a session of the Council of Ministers.
In H1 2010 the quality parameters of the economic performance have improved, Sergei Sidorsky said. The export outpaced import by 12.9%. In January-May 2010 the foreign trade deficit was $500 million less than in the same period of 2009. |

| MINSK, 26 July (BelTA) – A quality breakthrough in Belarus-Syria relations is a possibility, said President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko as he met with Syria President Bashar al-Assad on 26 July.
“I am convinced that we will considerably expand the bilateral trade and economic ties. We have everything to make it happen, primarily the political will of the leadership of both countries,” said Alexander Lukashenko. |

| MINSK, 23 July (BelTA) – President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has instructed Education Minister Alexander Radkov to start Belarus’ accession to the Bologna Process, the press service of the Belarusian head of state told BelTA.
The Bologna Process is supposed to create and improve a Europe-wide higher education space. It will allow raising the attractiveness and the competitive ability of European education in the modern world. |

| MINSK, 21 July (BelTA) – In 2011-2015 Belarus is set to increase the volume of foreign direct investment to $7 billion per year, Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky said at a session of the national organizational committee in charge of the preparation of the 4th All-Belarus People’s Assembly.
The social and economic program for the next five years introduces an index of investment on a net basis, according to Sergei Sidorsky. |

| MINSK, 20 July (BelTA) – Revenues of the Belarusian space industry should reach $1 billion in the future, said President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko as he visited the electronic engineering company Peleng on 20 July.
“The country should have a different image. The industry should advance towards billions [in revenues]. We will help if necessary. It means different levels, a different mentality of the nation,” said Alexander Lukashenko. |

| MINSK, 14 July (BelTA) – Belarusian MPs are set to ratify a Belarus-Finland intergovernmental agreement on cooperation and mutual assistance in customs procedures. The decision to uphold the bill on ratification at the forthcoming session was adopted at a session of the commission for international affairs and links with the CIS on 14 July, BelTA has learnt.
Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee Vasily Dementei said that the agreement was necessitated by the increase in the mutual trade between Belarus and Finland. |
