Healthcare

Medical services are provided by a central regional hospital, Restyanskaya skilled nursing facility, three rural ambulance stations, 23 feldsher-midwife stations, a centre of hygiene and epidemiology, which employ altogether 49 doctors and 219 paramedical workers. The region features also five pharmacies and a network of branch pharmaceutical kiosks.

Education

The regional network of educational establishments includes three comprehensive schools, one basic school and 13 educational establishments such as kindergarten-school, eight preschool establishments, one of them is a sanatorium, a children’s creative work centre, a children’s sports school, a Chausy tourism centre for children, an inter-school job training centre, correctional and developing education centre and the regional social pedagogic centre in the town of Chausy.

Culture

The regional network of cultural establishments includes a regional community centre, eight cultural centres, 14 village clubs, 23 libraries, two children’s art school with five branches, a museum of local lore and history, a mobile library and an auto-club.
The region seeks to develop amateur art, to improve the performing skills of amateur groups. Some 138 groups have been set up at community centres of the region. Five amateur groups have a title “People’s Group”.

Social security

The region provides social security through the department of employment and social security and Chausy regional centre of social services.
The department has registered 7,462 recipients of pensions and different benefits, among them are 101 veterans of the Great Patriotic War, 45 families of killed servicemen, 311 former prisoners of death camps, 212 families with many children, 69 one-parent families, 38 families with disabled children.
